What is AMC 8?
The AMC 8 (American Mathematics Competitions 8) is a middle school mathematics competition designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills among students in grades 8 and below. Organized by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), the AMC 8 consists of 25 multiple-choice questions covering various mathematical topics, including algebra, geometry, number theory, and combinatorics. The competition aims to challenge participants with thought-provoking problems that go beyond standard curriculum, encouraging creative and critical thinking. Students typically have a limited time, 40 minutes, to complete the exam. The AMC 8 serves as a stepping stone for students to engage in more advanced math competitions and fosters a passion for mathematics. It is widely recognized as a prestigious event in the realm of math competitions for young students.
